This is a short post today, but I made this delicious smoothie this morning and just wanted to share it’s fruity yumminess with you all! SO GOOD and super, duper fruity!

I also wanted to thank all of you for your support and voting, if you voted for me in The Vegan Woman’s contest for the top vegan blogs of 2014. I got #5 in “The Top 20 Vegan Blogs To Watch”. What?! I was shocked when I got the email this morning. The Vegan 8 is my little baby that just began in October, which is when all my followers and growth began, so thank you from the bottom of my heart! There is so many amazing blogs out there, so I was humbled to be apart of the group.

Super Fruity Berry Smoothie

A super fruity smoothie that is filling from delicious vanilla protein powder and tastes like a real treat with all of the amazing fruit. No sweeteners needed for this amazing smoothie!
Print Recipe
Prep Time 5 mins
Servings 2 smoothies or 1 huge smoothie

Ingredients

  • Large handful fresh kale
  • Two 10 oz frozen bags of strawberries about 3 cups This eliminates the need for ice, so it doesn't dilute the flavor.
  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1/4 cup fresh raspberries or cherries if you don't like raspberries
  • Juice from 1/2 lemon
  • 1/4 cup fresh applesauce
  • 1 1/2 scoops Sprout Living Vanilla Lucuma protein powder Gives the smoothie a floral flavor
  • 1 cup water or just enough to blend without making it too watery.

Instructions

  • Add all of ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. Adjust water as needed. I just eyeballed it and added just enough so that it would be thick and smooth, not too watery or dilute the flavors.

I have a question about the Vanilla Lucuma protein powder. I know a lot of protein powders can leave a gritty sand like texture and a funky taste in the smoothies, does this one do that? Also, congratulations!!

Hi Chandra! Yes, you are right, the majority of protein powders, particularly plant based ones do leave a strong gritty texture, which I cannot stand! That is one of the main reasons I love Sprout Living the best and only use theirs now. It is the smoothest plant based one I’ve ever used and also blends perfectly into the smoothies, without leaving a horrible taste. Their vanilla lucuma is my absolute flavor. I also don’t use the full 2 scoops in my smoothie, so I don’t even notice really any texture. There is a slight texture, but I quickly got used to it, it was SO much better than some other popular brand names that I tried before. I use about 1 1/2 scoops and with a vitamix, it makes it even smoother. But even with a regular blender, it’s still smoother than any other powder I’ve tried. 🙂

Congratulations, Brandi! I’m not surprised at all – your blog is phenomenal. Soon you’ll be #1 on all the lists, mark my words! Lol, and I totally concur with Gigi Eats’ comment – yours is the only vegan blog I visit because even though I have one of the unhealthiest diets ever, I still want to eat every single thing that you make, including this gorgeous smoothie.

Brandi – First, I love your site and this recipe for fruity smoothie. My daughter loves it. I have been using hydroponics from a company called http://www.planetponics.com that allows me to grow the herbs, vegetables, fruits & grains for some of your recipes. I really enjoyed the value and idea this company was striving for. Thought I would share it for others. You can grow all year and in any climate. It grows food such as herbs, vegetables, flowers and grains. And there is no soil, no mess, self-watering hydroponics. Thanks again and keep the recipes coming!
