HOMEMADE PINEAPPLE DOLE WHIP
If you’ve ever visited Disney, then you have likely tried their famous pineapple dole whip. It is insanely delicious and one of my daughter’s favorite treats.
The Disney recipe isn’t the healthiest, although it is naturally vegan and dairy-free, but as usual, I like to recreate a healthier version. But make no mistake, my homemade pineapple dole whip is absolutely delicious!
In fact, my toughest critic, my daughter said after eating her first bowl, is there any more left? Haha.
You only need 4 ingredients plus a pinch of salt to balance the flavors!
Try this out and come back and let me know what you think of it!
I know the pic isn’t the best, I wanted to get this email out to you quickly, so it’s just a quick shot, but I will be updating the photos this week!

Homemade Pineapple Dole Whip
Ingredients
- 1 pound (16oz) FROZEN pineapples (must be frozen or you’ll end up with just juice!) I USED a frozen bag of pineapples from the store.
- 1/2 - 3/4 cup creamy plant milk (higher the fat, the creamier and better texture)
- 2 tablespoons (32g) raw cashew butter (with no added oil/sugar)
- 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
- pinch fine sea salt
Instructions
- Set the frozen pineapple out to thaw for about 20 minutes or pop in to microwave 45 seconds. This allows for easier blending so you don’t need as much liquid to blend it up so you do not dilute the flavor.Add all the ingredients to a powerful blender and blend until completely smooth and creamy. You will need to scrape down the sides a few times because it will be very cold and hard to blend at first. You can enjoy it right away or place in the freezer to set and firm up for a bit and then pipe out like traditional Dole whip, if preferred. It’s best to enjoy the first set because it will harden really hard if frozen overnight.

Can I sub tahini or peanut butter in this? We are allergic to cashews.
Hi Beth, you can try but it is going to change the flavor a lot. Cashews end up leaving a neutral sweet taste in desserts, so I’m not too sure how peanut butter will taste. It will definitely make the ice cream taste like peanut butter and tahini will probably make it quite bitter. Tahini tends to work best in chocolate desserts so it’s not too bitter.
This is currently setting up in the freezer, waiting for me to dive in. But of course I had a little taste, and holy cow this is delicious! So simple and easy, and perfect for a light summer dessert!
I just made this tonight, and although it’s not fully firm yet, everyone in our family absolutely loves it!! Thank you very much! An instant hit.
I am so very happy to hear this Dawn, thank you so much for letting me know!!
This was awesome. This is a favorite treat we would get out. Now we can have at home. So exciting.
Yayyy so happy you enjoyed it Ellen! Yes, it’s so nice to be able to make it at home!
Hi Brandi I was wondering what brand of maple syrup did you use , or does it matter? As long as it’s maple syrup? Your recipe sounds extremely delicious and healthy, Which is always a plus! I’m definitely trying it!!!
Hi Maria! I use the Coombs Family Farms dark maple syrup! But honestly, it doesn’t matter as long as it’s pure maple syrup and not the imitation stuff.
Hi Brandi,
This looks delicious! Please tell me how I would make cashew butter. Thanks!
Hi Sharon, you can make it following this tutorial here! https://thevegan8.com/how-to-make-cashew-butter/
Hi Brandi, This recipe sounds delicious! Does the recipe call for a fresh pineapple that has been frozen? Or do you use a package of already-frozen pineapple from the frozen food section of the store? Which one do you use?
Thanks!
Hi Carol! I used a 1 lb (16 oz) bag of frozen pineapple from the frozen section!
