This smoothie is not only amazingly delicious, but it is loaded with some major antioxidant goodness. I’ve been drinking one every morning for over a week now. I actually can’t wait until morning everyday, just so I can drink one. I absolutely love smoothies and more importantly, love how they make me feel.
My daughter absolutely loves them too. When prepping it each morning, she says “smoomoo”!!
This smoothie is incredibly high in Vitamins A, C and E just to name a few. There is actually so many benefits, it would take forever to name them all. I recommend a whole orange over just orange juice because the majority of the benefits and nutrients come from the pulp of the orange.
Parsley is high in vitamin A, C and incredibly high in vitamin K….153% of our daily RDA, in fact! It is also high in luteolin, which acts as an anti-inflammatory agent in the body. Ginger also acts as an anti-inflammatory agent, as well as promoting absorption of other nutrients into the body. Blueberries are an antioxidant powerhouse, being one of the highest antioxidant fruits out of all fruit.
So, basically, drink this smoothie everyday and boost your immune system!!
Sunrise Detox Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups frozen strawberries
- 1/2 cup frozen wild blueberries
- 1 whole orange, peeled and seeded
- 1 small handful parsley (you cannot taste the parsley at all in this smoothie, so you can adjust more or less)
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger
- 1 cup (240g) orange juice
- 1 cup (240g) coconut water or plain water
Instructions
- Add all ingredients into your blender and blend until smooth. If you do not have a high-powered blender, let the strawberries thaw for 15-20 minutes first, otherwise it is hard to blend and you don't want to add too much water to dilute the flavor.
Notes
Mmmm this looks divine, and so healthy. Love that gorgeous color!!
Love the pictures on your blog! Awesome!
Hey Brandi. I’ve made your smoothie twice! We all love it. I feel like Good Mummy sending my boys off to school with this in their tummies. I now have the recipe stuck inside my pantry door. It’s a keeper 🙂
Oh, thank you so much Saskia for trying it and giving me feedback. I’m so thrilled you all love it, including your boys!! it definitely feels good starting your day off with solid nutrition! Thank you again so much!
Brandi, this is perfect! All I need is the coconut water and I will be making this! Looks delicious 🙂 And I love the ginger addition!
Oh please let me know what you think Judy! Thank you!!
I can see why you got such a positive response to this smoothie post! It looks fantastic! My biggest hit day ever was on the day of the VVP. Yeah, pretty hard to top myself with that recipe 😉
Would you believe I haven’t put parsley in a smoothie yet…. I think it’s time! xx
Aww thanks Somer! I honestly was shocked and did a double take….who knew so many people would react like that to a healthy smoothie? Haha! My second biggest hits day are my 4 ingredient peanut butter cookies…those have been really popular for the easy factor! I can see why your VVP was your biggest hit day…you posted that amazing cheese! Yeah…parsley is very strong so go easy on how much you add…I overdid it the first time…yuck! 🙂
This sounds amazing!!! Great minds think alike–I’ve been drinking green smoothies every day for the past week–all some variation of spinach, almond milk, chia seeds, cacao powder, frozen berries or bananas and maybe peanut butter. Ha, just remembered you don’t like bananas–this is a great non-banana smoothie! Reminds me of one during the Whole Living detox–2 oranges + 1 cup of berries. I loved the sherbert-like texture! I would love to give this a try! (And ps: your daughter sounds ADORABLE!)
Thanks so much Erika!! I love the texture too…I like my smoothies using frozen fruit instead of ice…stringer flavor and love the smooth icy texture..soooo delicious! I’m addicted to them! Yeah, I really wish I liked bananas…only time I could handle them was after running my half marathon..I would eat anything then! My hubby and daughter both love them 🙂
Mmmm, this looks so good, I haven’t used coconut water as the base for a smoothie before – can’t wait to try!
Thank you. It’s delicous and not a “coconuty” flavor so it’s just an additional delicious benefit!
Thank goodness I have your blog as a resource, Brandi. I want to start incorporating smoothies into my diet – I was actually hoping that the Husband and I would have one every morning. I can’t wait to try this recipe and to comb through your blog for other yummy recipes.
Ha! Thank you Nancy! They really do make a difference in how you feel and give you a great boost of vitamins! I can’t live without one every morning…best part is they are delicious!
Yum! Smoothies are the best! I would love to try this.
Yum! Smoothies are the best! I would love to try this.
Thank you…please do and let me know what you think 🙂
Hi Brandi – what a gorgeous looking smoothie! Love the combo of blueberries & strawberries, they are so energizing. And parsley and ginger too? I’m so into that!
Thanks Shira! It is truly delicious and super healthy!
I love smoothies, I’ve never thought of adding parsley or ginger but now I really want to try it out!!
Thank you! It’s incredibly refreshing and filling too. I hope you enjoy it 🙂
Brandi! I desperately need this after two weeks of hectic schedule at work. The adding of parsley to this smoothie is so unique and creative. simply love it!:-)
Thank you Danny! It has tremendous benefits and as long as you don’t go too crazy in how much you add, you can’t even taste it!
Hi Brandi, suddenly I am not getting notification of your reply and I don’t know why. Do you mind replying to this comment so that I can know if something is really wrong with my account? Which you can delete this after so that I won’t be disturbing your thread. Thank much!
Hi Danny! That’s strange…Wordpress sometimes doesn’t send me notifications either…:(
I hope you get this. By the way, you are never interrupting my thread 🙂
Hi Brandi, thank you for your reply. I got the notification this time. Apparently, WP site has some glitch over the past week. Seems ok now. 🙂
This looks delicious! I was wondering if you could use almond milk instead of coconut water? I have everything but the coconut water.
Thank you! Just use filtered water. I wouldn’t use milk because that would alter the taste too much and most commercial almond milk has preservatives and I was trying to keep this as healthy as possible. Please enjoy it and let me know how you like it. 🙂
This looks delicious! I love coconut water in smoothies.
I am very keen to try this. I will wait for strawberry season, which isn’t too far away.
Thank you so much Ally! I hope you enjoy it. I just buy frozen strawberries which are super yummy!
This is one heckuva smoothie, Brandi, chock full of vitamins and other good “stuff”. And I just love that color! Well done! I need to get me some ingredients and give this a try one morning. Thanks!
Thank you so much John! I just had another one and it is SO delicious!! 🙂
I agree!! My day ALWAYS starts with one and I always have tons of energy 🙂
DELICIOUS way to start the day!! I love the addition of ginger, YUM! I DO have a high powered blender, I need to start putting it to use for smoothies. I have been making a lot of sauces with it lately!
Thank you Brittany! I’m going to double the ginger tomorrow so I can taste it more and see how I like it…it’s such a healthy ingredient and I love ginger to pieces! Girl, get to making those smoothies, lol!
Mmm parsley? Interesting! I like it.
Yes! Thank you. It is so incredibly good for you and you can’t taste it so I add it daily now!
Went to the store today and got everything for this, making it tomorrow morning, it sounds great, I love parsley and think that even if you can taste it it would add a freshness and herbal quality to the smoothie, Can’t wait to make it.
Oh awesome!! Please let me know tomorrow after you make it how it turned out!! I’m actually about to make another one right now as “dessert”! 🙂 Yeah, you can’t taste the parsley at all…I one time put way too much and didn’t like it too much, but it definitely is personal preference. The blueberries do an exceptional job of camouflaging it!
Thanks Brandi, I have to get a few things from the store for this, but my husband and I have been looking for healthy & TASTY smoothies, and looks like we found it here! We can’t wait to try it!
Charisse
Thank you Charisse! Oh, I can assure you this is tasty and delicious and doesn’t taste like some nasty “healthy” green monster. I’m very picky…I can’t eat or drink something UNLESS it tastes good! I hope you like it…let me know 🙂
Definitely making this too Brandi. Sounds delicious, and I have everything on the list! My boys love smoothies too. Love that your daughter calls them smoomoos. My eldest used to refer to them as moomies when he was little.
Thank you Saskia! It truly is delicious. I have it every morning with a bowl of oatmeal….perfect start to my day. Please let me know when you try it 🙂
Beautiful Picture, gonna try this recipe over the weekend! I need a dose of fresh and healthy
Thank you so much! Please let me know how you like it!
