Instead of processed candy, instead make these Healthy Valentine’s Day Candy from fresh strawberries and vegan chocolate. They are impressive and delicious!
The perfect recipe just in time for the big V Day are these Healthy Valentine’s Day Candy! Ok, so this is probably not even a recipe, but more like an idea for Valentine’s Day. We have probably all seen chocolate dipped strawberries or chocolate coated strawberries. However, after seeing all the ads lately with all the traditional chalky Valentine’s Day candy with all the cute quotes on them, I thought that would be a great idea to do it to strawberries. Much healthier and super delicious.
It is the day of love after all, so something cute and festive I wanted to create. My perfect little hand model ate a bazillion of these Healthy Valentine’s Day Candy Strawberries.
Exhibit A. Look at that adorable messy strawberry face.
So, as you might have guessed….all you need is 2 ingredients for this healthy vegan candy….some strawberries and some chocolate. I used unsweetened chocolate, that way it made this dessert entirely sugar-free, with the exception of the natural sugars in strawberries.
USE A DECORATING PEN FOR CLEAN CHOCOLATE WRITING
Oh, and you will need one of the decorating pens. I bought this one from Sur La Table. Make sure to watch the little video tutorial if you buy that one, as it helps to know how to properly use it. You could try to do it with a baggy, cutting off the corner, but it might get a little messy that way. The pen was super cool, but it still wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be to neatly write out the words. At least, for me it wasn’t, haha! It really requires a steady hand and this isn’t something I EVER do, so they don’t look as perfect as I’d like, but not terrible either.
This was a fun idea that I came up with and wanted to share, so if you make these or decide to share them on your blog, please link back and give credit to my blog. Thank you! I’d also love to hear your feedback below if you make these healthy vegan candy.
Other Healthy Vegan Candy:
HEALTHY VALENTINE'S DAY CANDY
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup finely chopped dark chocolate or chocolate chips
- 3 cups strawberries
- Decorating pin (see above post for pin I used)
- Note: Alternatively, you could add the melted chocolate to a ziplock bag and cut a tiny corner off and pipe the chocolate that way, but I think it will be much harder to be precise, which is why I just bought a pin.
Instructions
- Clean and papertowel dry your strawberries.
- Melt the chocolate over a double boiler or in the microwave for 30 seconds, stir and then a couple more 15 second intervals until melted. Be careful not to burn the chocolate. If using a decorative pin, use the chocolate right away because it will get harder to squeeze as it cools.
- The chocolate will harden rather quickly after applying, especially if you just removed your strawberries from the fridge. Otherwise, let them harden at room temperature or in the fridge. Enjoy!
Hope everybody has a wonderful Valentine’s Day! Be sure to check out my last Valentine’s Day post that I wrote for Pottery Barn, and to make the 1 Bowl Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cake for Two!

Vanessa @ VeganFamilyRecipes.com
I need to get one of those decorating pens! Love how simple this is and super smart! I think a strawberry that is dipped completely in chocolate is just too much but adding just a bit like you did here is perfect! Vdday is over now so I missed out but I think I might have to make these with numbers and letters on them. Might be a tasty way for my boys to learn those 🙂 Oh and your little girl is so adorable!
brandi.doming@yahoo.com
Aww thanks Vanessa! You are too sweet! I wouldn’t turn away a chocolate dipped strawberry but this is definitely a fun twist!! My daughter sure loved them and they are so healthy, I let her eat a million of them!
brandi.doming@yahoo.com
Oh and I LOVE your idea of the numbers….might be a very yummy, but messy way to learn, lol!
Ceara @ Ceara's Kitchen
This is the most adorable idea ever, Brandi!! And I love how much your little girl loves the strawberries – she is so sweet 🙂 What a fun way to get the little ones (and everyone for that matter!) to eat more fruit!! These strawberries look a million times better than the sugar-ridden candy sold in stores 🙂
brandi.doming@yahoo.com
Thank you so much Ceara!! Yes, she LOVES strawberries, and fruit in general, which is a wonderful thing!

I found a medical liquid puller (from cough RX) worked fairly well …. it is smaller than
the item you recommended but works fine … no cost. I’m all for that.
Melanie @ Happy Being Healthy
Love this idea; Simple, but so beautiful! I need to get me one of those pens. Your daughter is darling and I LOVE that sweet picture of her hands holding the strawberry. Absolutely gorgeous!
brandi.doming@yahoo.com
Thank you so much for your sweet compliments Melanie! I’m so glad you love the strawberries!
Nicole @ Vegan ShowOff
These are sooooo freakin’ adorable, and so is your daughter! What a clever idea although I think I’d have a hard time pulling this off and having them still be legible. I can barely write with a pen let alone with chocolate! LOL
brandi.doming@yahoo.com
Haha! Thank you so much Nicole! Trust me, my hand was shaking a lot and I’m not great at these things, so I’m sure you could do it! The pen definitely helped…it would have been a nightmare without it, lol! Thank you for the compliments
Meghan @ Rootiful
This is such a cute idea! You get your holiday chocolate fix and a dose of fruit…plus personalized! How cute are those little hands holding the strawberry?!?!?! 🙂
brandi.doming@yahoo.com
Awww thanks Meghan!! I was happy my idea turned out and my little girl was quite happy too, lol!
Jen
Your daughter is SO ADORABLE! These strawberries are also adorable. I don’t think I could make them look as good as you did here, but I have never seen that type of decorating pen before. I’m intrigued to say the least. I think these are just gorgeous and I’m going to pin to my Valentines board so I can try them next year.
brandi.doming@yahoo.com
Awww thanks Jen! She gets SO EXCITED when I tell her I want her help in a photoshoot! Using her hands was a last minute decision and I love how it turned out
Choc Chip Uru
What a delicious candy, it looks so creative 😀
Great idea!
Cheers
Choc Chip Uru

Thank you so much Uru! ❤️
Annie
Just freakin’ adorable!! Both the berries AND that beautiful daughter of yours. LOVE those little hands.
(I think I need one of those pens. I am THE WORST at decorating which is why I avoid it with my desserts!)
brandi.doming@yahoo.com
Thank you my friend! You are too sweet! Olivia was more than happy to assist, lol! Oh and trust me, I am not experienced at this stuff, my first time ever using a pen like this and I made plenty of oops, so I guarantee you’re no worse than me!
Linda @ Veganosity
This is so creative! I love this idea and the fact that you get just a taste of chocolate instead of a lot.
brandi.doming@yahoo.com
Thank you Linda so much! Yes, I was happy to let my daughter eat these without the guilt of her eating too much sweets, as with traditional desserts. She was one happy little girl eating strawberry after strawberry!
Angela @ Canned-Time.com
You know I love these and I love not paying $5 + per berry at Godiva right?
Perfect! Happy Valentine’s day!
brandi.doming@yahoo.com
Right?! Godiva is so overpriced, Puh-lease!! Although, I’m sure theirs are much prettier and professional, lol!
Suzanne
How cute is that. Strawberries with a message. Love it, Strawberries are my favorite and I am so happy to have them year round. They are the perfect valentines day treat. Those cute little hands holding that strawberry is precious,
